CRES - East Bay Real Estate
Alameda Real Estate
Alameda is an island, just off the shore of Oakland. Alameda is a wonderful community with many parks, great schools and close proximity to the metro area. Alameda consists of 2 islands, the main larger island and a smaller island known as the Harbor Bay Island. Alameda real estate is very desirable, and always has a high demand. The main island was established in the mid 1800’s and is the home of many Victorian homes on tree lined streets.
Until the late 1800’s Alameda was a peninsula, until local merchants and city government opened the channel which is now part of the Port of Oakland. Until 1997 the West end of the island was home to the largest naval air station, and remains the home of the USS Hornet. Today Alameda remains 1 of 7 coast guard cities.
